Here is the Race Report by Chris Greeley for Ridge Crest May 2008
well here's how my race went.....
it all started out saturday morning at about 7:45 when i arrived at the starting line. i get there and everyone is just kickin back in the shade relaxing ahahaha. so i get out of my truck and kick back in the shade with all my competitors pretty rad if you ask me. it was really cool to shoot the crap with everyone before the race and helped to ease the prerace bubbleguts. after the first couple of cars left the line we all got suited and booted and hit the starting line. vroom vroom!! i was 2nd off the line behind reynolds. caught reynolds at about rm 2 and passed him leaving him in my dust......oh wait no, no, thats not what happened at all ahahaha my bad ok actually i got passed there we go, i got passed by about 3 trucks (hampton,farretboy,and megatron1000000) in the first 10-20 miles that i knew were going to be coming up on me really soon in the race and also passed a couple people also. then i settled into a smooth pace to finish strong and hold it together. 1st lap went by fast w/o any problems and the 2nd lap was the same. we pulled into our pit in the beginning of our 3rd lap and morgan got out and vince got in and after a splash of gas we were off again.
we did get passed by a singlecab blue f-1 while pitting but reeled him in shortly after and got back where we were in standings prior to our pitstop. ran a super consistant 3rd lap and same with the 4th. no flats and no major mechanical difficulties, not bad for a 100 degree saturday in ridgecrest, ca. i ended up winning the fastest leaf vehicle contingincy award from 1450 org which i am still overwhelmed by. i got a really cool plack and 250 bones!! i was bummed to hear about everyones problems but there is always the next one so keep your heads up. was planning on going home right after the race because i had 3 finals this morning but i had to stick it out in ridgecrest and left sunday early am. had such a good time bs'ing with everyone saturday night i can't even begin to explain it. im really bummed i missed the scavenger hunt sounds like everyone had an awesome time doing it. next time i wont go cruise around so much after awards but ridgecrest is a really cool place to go exploring in the hills everyone should check it out at some point or another.
overall saturday night was one of the best post-race parties ever. it was super cool talkin to everyone adam co-dog and crew, the 2 guys with the white tacoma in giant cant remember your names but super cool guys, dez tv rob, the whole 1450org crew, reynolds & p-chik, torian and derek, herrera and tu familia, the hamptons, go go gadget greg and wife, nice to meet you trev leechy let me know about mexico im serious leaving friday night need to know asap, nice to meet you ross, and the list goes on. congrats to all the finishers, big thanks to 1450 org for the pits and also the contingency, radflo shox for their continued support, and another big thanks to geoff and mo from giant for everything you guys do it doesn't go unnoticed (sorry i had to flap over your mexico inflatable hat on the corse) also gfo for letting us use the trilor for beer pong good times. thanx to clean dez for the trash cans and help pickin up and.....thats about it
