Crossover Steering for Ford Ranger Equal-Length Beam Builds
The Ford Ranger factory steering setup is built around a narrow stock track width — once you install an equal-length I-beam kit and spread the wheels out, the stock steering geometry produces significant bump steer that makes the truck unpredictable at speed and uncomfortable on technical terrain.
Crossover steering eliminates most of that bump steer by repositioning the drag link so it moves in a closer-to-parallel arc with the beam pivot. On a Ranger build going to see desert racing, high-speed washes, or serious off-road use, this is a necessary upgrade — not optional.

Optional Heim Joint Upgrade
An optional heim kit is available for $750 — includes bungs, spacers, and jam nuts. Heims give you zero-compliance steering feel and are the right call for any Ranger that runs faster than casual trail speeds. Worth the investment if you are building for desert racing or high-speed off-road use.
Compatible Applications
Designed for Ford Ranger trucks running a GIANT MotorSports equal-length I-beam kit. The swingers are geometry-matched to our beam pivot locations and track widths. If you are running a different beam kit, call first at 714-265-1450 to confirm geometry compatibility.
What You Will Also Need
You will need a Pitman arm compatible with your Ranger steering box, a drag link sized to your track width, and a complete tie rod setup. See the Ranger I-Beam Long Travel Kit for the beam conversion itself, and the Single Crossover Steering Mount if your setup only requires one swinger.
Installation Notes
Mounts are weld-on. MIG or TIG welding capability required. Pitman arm not included. Dial in drag link angle relative to the beam before final weld — this determines how much bump steer you end up with through the travel range.
