The Dana 35 TTB spindle used in 1986-1997 4WD Ford Rangers and Explorers has three documented failure modes — all of them cracks that propagate from stress concentrations in the spindle casting. The Dana 35 spindle was adequate for factory use cases, but under the loads of long-travel suspension, wider track width, or aggressive off-road use, spindle failure is a matter of when, not if.
